A Few years ago I was in need of a bridge replacement…this is the shortened version of my story.

In the summer of 2007, I made a visit to my family dentist in the United States and had an evaluation of the work that needed to be done. Being a school teacher, I felt confident that my insurance would pay for the necessary dental services needed. To my surprise, the cost was way beyond what I could afford. I asked my dentist to spread the work out over the next two years allowing my insurance company to cover most of the expenses due. His reply was that the only way for me to receive his services was to arrange a personal loan in order to pay for the procedure.

Not only was I frustrated and upset that the cost was too high, I was not willing to take out a loan for the work that needed to be done. So, unhappy with my dentist’s response, I decided to research various local dental practices in the area near my residence. While on the internet, I found a link that featured an article in USA Today about dental vacations and the extreme savings of having dental work conducted abroad. The article featured a town in the country of Hungary that has over one hundred dentists serving Europeans, Americans, and like-minded individuals. Further research pointed to the fact that there were many countries that offer quality, affordable dental work as well as dental travel vacations. I realized that there were many other options available besides my local dentist.

Twenty exhausting hours of research later, I made the decision to go abroad for a dental vacation. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made! Upon return to the United States, I spoke to a close friend about my experience and after hearing my story, he asked how we could make it better? After more extensive research, we concluded that there was a growing market for this type of service but believed there needed to be an easier way to find Dentists and schedule appointments to get work completed in another country.

This is how MyDentalTrip.com and MyMedicalTrip.com (coming soon as well) were formed. We decided a more user friendly and less time consuming website was the fix for people like me who needed various types of affordable dental and medical assistance. Not to mention a wonderful vacation in between!
